// HOW IT WORKS

There is currently 2 different services to choose from:

SPEEDWARNINGS (ALERT) - You receive a sms when and where there is a police activity such as speed traps, radar control, road worthy test etc. in your area.

CHEAPEST FUEL (FUEL) - You receive a SMS about where to find the cheapest fuel in your selected area.

They both work the same way:
1. You start subscribing by sending a SMS to 1979 0000 Learn More.

2. We send you a SMS when and where there is a activity in your area. You only pay 55Cents per received msg. Learn More.

Road Info is a SMS based service, sending a text message alert to your mobile phone when a mobile speed camera or traffic information is reported in your chosen area. Alerts are sent by SMS text message direct to your mobile phone, due to this there is no special hardware to install and the service is as mobile as you are.

Road Info identifies mobile speed cameras, radar sites, laser sites, police activity and traffic hazards through various sources and through reports made by other Road Info subscribers.

The typical reporting process is as follows:

  • Our contracted reporters, you or another subscriber spots a mobile speed camera, Police laser or radar trap etc and report the hazard when it is safe to do so. You can contact Road Info via the Call Centre (1300 1979 00). (We always recommend using appropriate hands free devices if you use your phone whilst driving as stated by the law).

  • The information is received, processed and cross-referenced by the Road Info staff and a computer program to avoid duplicated alerts.

  • SMS warning messages are sent out to subscribers that have selected to receive those alerts for that particular region. This only takes seconds using the latest technology.

Subscribers can then drive accordingly to ensure road safety and avoid massive traffic fines, if the reported incident/activity is on their chosen route.

With Road Info you can receive as many alerts as are reported in your chosen region, and you may turn off the service at any time you want. There is no contract or obligations on your behalf, the service is cancelled as easy as you started it, with one SMS to us. You may turn on and off the service as many times during the day as you want and according to your needs. You only get billed for the number of ALERT/INFO/LIST messages you recieve.

Road Info cannot guarantee to provide 100% coverage of all mobile speed cameras or other police activities at all times and so safe driving is always encouraged. Road Info does not condone or encourage driving above Australian road speed limits or driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Road Info strongly urges the use of a legal hands free mobile phone kit whilst driving.

Read disclaimer before you start using this service.
